![]() I read and listen (Rob Inglis and Martin Shaw) to the LotR series, the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion several times over each year. If this was not a cash grab, then I have no idea why it was released. I question whether Serkis (Smeagol) even read LotR Thank you for this masterpiece of narration. My mother read these books to me while I was still in the womb, and 56 years later the story remains an essential, vital part of my life. That's some of the highest praise I could ever pay anyone. ![]() The only narrators I can think of who would be anywhere near this performance would be Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, or Cate Blanchett, and they wouldn't be better. I'm not finished with these new releases yet, but so far I have not one single complaint to make. ![]() He's one of the finest actors of his generation. I knew instantly he would be brilliant, and I was not mistaken. However, when I heard that Andy Serkis was doing a new narration of what I consider some of the finest books ever written in the English language, I just about died. I own the Rob Inglis narration, and he did quite a decent job.
